3 Ways to Simplify the Thrival Life!
If you can simplify life you can truly thrive in life instead of just survive. Several years ago I was living in an immense amount of chronic pain, working a job which was exacerbating my pain, and wondering if this is all I was going to get out of life. A life where I just hoped to survive every day so I could lay down and start it all over again tomorrow.
This was the point I put on the brakes to realize there is absolutely more to life. But I was going to have to stop living like everyone else around me was living or expecting me to live. I needed to focus more on how to thrive in life instead of just survive.
If you find yourself in the same situation then stop and take a breath. The change in mindset will not be easy but it is attainable. If you can take the first step in simplifying your life, then you are taking one step toward living a Thrival Life instead of surviving each day.
We are a consumer driven society. Take a look at all the shops, stores, restaurants, and businesses as you drive down your street. They are all built for us to consume. With Christmas coming, look at all the magazines which begin to appear in bulk at your mailbox. Our society is build to buy.
The more we can possess the more we think we are attaining some type of status. Which is completely false. Take a look at your life and see where you can simplify your life in order to shake off the demands of consumerism. Seriously take the time to see if you are in an unhealthy relationship with your stuff! If you want to begin to simplify your life, the following are 3 quick and easy steps you can take to begin to not be trapped by purchasing things your neither need or want.
Weekly meal plans are great way to eliminate overspending at the grocery store. They can also eliminate overeating with unnecessary purchases bought at the grocery store. There are a number of plans to be found online like emeals.com, thekitchn.com, or cooksmarts.com. Some require a small fee to use monthly, but is easily recouped by saving money at the grocery store.
Weekly meal plans eliminate the time spent attempting to figure out what is for dinner each night of the week. The plans usually come with detailed grocery lists and in some cases you are preparing for several meals at one time. You will save time in deciding what to eat at the grocery store and in meal preparation. As well as, not spending as much as the store because you prepare your meals as you walk down the aisle.
Another way to simplify life is to simply purge. Choose to clean out your garage, closet, or office this weekend. Purge anything unnecessary and give it away to someone in need. If it is junk, then be honest with yourself and throw it away. Just ensure the items are no longer in your house.
Create a “Donation Box” and keep it somewhere in your house to give you a place to unload clothes, toys, office supplies, or shoes you no longer need or want.
Never buy anything spontaneously. Our spontaneous purchases tend to get stuffed in the back of our closets only needing to be thrown away later. Make it a habit to giver yourself 24-48 hours to think about a purchase, unless an emergency. Make yourself give a great argument to purchase anything and then still be able to say no. Plan every purchase in order to stop collecting useless items around your house.
Learning to simplify our lives can eliminate much of the clutter which is only bogging us down and keeping us distracted for a more harmonious life.
