What is the Thrival Life?
Why keep living in survival mode when you can live a thrival life? With all the demands and expectations of life, work, relationships, media, society, and from yourself, it is easy to get overwhelmed. Then the stress, anxiety, and pressures begin to mount to the point you only hope you can survive the day. But there is a better way in choosing to live a Thrival Life, instead of constantly living in survival mode.
The Thrival Life means living life with all the fervor, passion, and intention you possess to generate maximum impact. You acknowledge there are distractions in your life, but you intentionally remove the obstacles that keep you from pursuing a life in which your dreams and desires are fulfilled. It is knowing you possess something greater inside you to give to the world—something the world desperately needs.
The Thrival Life gives you the power to reject the repeated messages which have inadvertently put you in survival mode. The stress and anxiety of living in survival mode pushes you onto a narrow path that forces limited thinking. Most of your life statements begin with “But I can’t, because…” You no longer desire to live in this state of mind. You are willing to make the necessary changes to pursue your dreams and live a passionate thriving life.
The Thrival Life is not a destination on a map but a journey you take to live a more fulfilled life. The journey pushes you into a more positive, purposeful, and wider path of opportunities and pursuits.
While there are many reasons to turn your back on survival mode and live a Thrival Life, there are 3 specific areas which can truly make life a more enjoyable experience.
Most people live in survival mode due to the fact they live in a constant state of distraction. The problem with our minds constantly attempting to solve the questions of what to wear, what to eat, what to post on social media, or how to interact with friends. Plus the 1000 other decisions which need to be made. The more we attempt to consume in the way of products, information, and technology the more distracted we become. We can’t possibly get ahead and learn everything out there on every topic. But we expend a tremendous amount of time and energy everyday attempting to solve these problems.
This mentality to keep up is what keeps you in survival mode. The purpose of the Thrival Life is to eliminate the unnecessary distractions in life. It is asking the questions of do you need to be on social media? What do you really need to purchase? Why are your chooses important in life? What good work are distractions keeping you from? The realization there is more to life than keeping your Facebook account up to date or keeping a streak on SnapChat.
Digging deep into what is a distraction keeping you in survival mode then ruthlessly attempting to eliminate that distraction from your life. Creating space for you to create and participate in more meaningful work.
The Thrival Life is also a life of focus. When you are living in survival mode you are distracted by every shiny object which comes you way. Without focus you don’t know where to place your time and energy. You lack direction and purpose which causes you to chase after any object that could meet your current desire. The problem is without focus your desires will change based upon what is in front of you. The end result is you are constantly chasing after the shiny objects because you have never taken the time to discover what will truly satisfy your soul.
When you eliminate the distractions in your life you are clearing out your junk drawer of life. You know that one drawer in the kitchen which contains everything you don’t know where else to put? And you have a hard time finding anything you actually need in the drawer. Yet you will spend hours rummaging through the drawer. When you clear out the junk you are only left with the essentials which are their to promote your thrival life. This step allows for clarity and focus to keep the junk drawer clean and not get distracted by all the shiny objects coming your way every day.
Find Your Adventure
Finding your true adventure is really the overall goal of the Thrival Life. You have that burning desire for some adventure in your life right now. Either to start you own business, run a non-profit, help underserved on the other side of the world, or just play more often. Everyone has an adventure inside of them but too often they are put on the back burner due to the distractions of life. But when you eliminate your unnecessary distractions and focus in deeply on what you desire you have just created space for your adventure.
Stop letting others tell you how to spend your time and live your life. Take the initiative to live the life you want. As long as you listen to everyone else’s message you will live in survival mode creating someone else’s adventure. Stop living in survival mode and chose to live the Thrival Life.
